OLD STUFF!

As part of Science and Engineering Week this year, many of our pupils took part in ‘The Great Global Adventure’ competition. We were delighted to hear today that P6 pupil, Siobhan Ironside, has won a Highly Commended prize for her entry. Siobhan was one of only twelve pupils out of 20, 000 entries to receive this accolade.

Siobhan’s entry can be viewed on the NSEW website at www.nsew.org.uk by clicking on the Great Global Adventure link.

Well done Siobhan and well done to all our pupils for their excellent entries.

The April Newsletter is now available

Many thanks to all those parents who responded to our school meals survey. We appreciate the time you gave to providing us with many informative and constructive comments. The survey is now closed and we will post a summary of your responses on the School Blog in the coming weeks.

A group of six pupils from primary Class 3i won the Aberdeen Branch of the British Science Association ‘Keep on Moving’ National Science and Engineering Week Competition’ for their innovative Olympic themed ‘Keep on Moving’ structure they collectively designed and built. They were presented with their prize certificate and prize of a 220 piece Marbulous marble run by a representative from the British Science Association at a school assembly.

Culter School Basketball TeamThe school Basketball team, coached by Miss Greig, played 3 games to qualify for the final where they faced Kintore.

The final ended 19 – 19 and the ‘Golden Basket’ rule was then applied, so the first team to score from a jump ball would win. Both teams had chances to win the Cup, but then Kamal N’Dow kept his nerve to score the winning basket.

The team won the basketball grampian Primary Schools Regional Cup.

Congratulations to all involved!

Thank you to all parents and pupils for their support on Sport Relief Day when we raised £460.74.

Well done to Nicolas and Matthew!

Thanks to everyone who has completed the School Meals Survey. We’ve had some great feedback so far to pass on to the school staff.

If you haven’t done the survey yet it’s still available at http://goo.gl/Aaqyt or you can download it here and return to the school.

Thanks on behalf of the Parent Council.

Sixty girls and over one hundred boys entered the tournaments. The boys’ tournament was held at Banchory Academy on Sunday 4th March and the girls one was held at Portlethen Academy on Sunday 11th March.

All the players played brilliantly and they showed first class sportsmanship.

Congratulations to Ryan and Cameron who were the runners-up in the doubles final. These two boys must be congratulated again, for reaching the semi-finals in the singles.

Congratulations also to Sarah and Carolina who reached the semi-finals in the doubles. Carolina was also successful in reaching the quarter-finals in the singles.

The boys will go on to take part in a city wide quiz to be held in Westhill in May. The team was made up of four boys from 7C who were accompanied to the quiz by their teacher, Mrs Chalmers.
